Main components of high-power magnetic stirrers

A magnetic stir bar is a small component driven by the rotating magnetic field generated by an external magnetic stirrer; it typically consists of a magnet sealed within a chemically inert casing-often coated with materials like PTFE-offering corrosion resistance and chemical inertness. Stir bars come in various shapes, such as rod, oval, octagonal, and cross shapes. Selection depends on factors such as vessel shape, liquid viscosity, volume, and operating conditions; for instance, oval stir bars are suitable for round-bottom vessels, cylindrical bars for flat-bottom vessels, 15 mm bars for vessels up to 1000 mL, and PTFE-coated bars for environments involving strong acids or bases.

Temperature sensors are used for the precise measurement and control of solution temperature; common types include external sensors such as Pt100, PT1000, or ETS-D4, which can be connected to the equipment to enable closed-loop temperature control. Support rods and clamps are used to secure temperature sensor probes or other experimental apparatus (such as condensers), ensuring measurement accuracy and experimental safety. Accessories such as silicone protective covers serve to prevent solution splashing during experiments, thereby protecting both the operator and the equipment.
